Norma Jackson McCann passed away on August 9, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born in Pittsburg, Kentucky on May 5, 1940, and retired from the L&N/CSX railroad in 1998 while living in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a 1957 graduate of Hazel Green High School and a 1959 graduate of the Sue Bennett Business College. She was, without question, an absolute Christmas enthusiast and loved to decorate her home and she hand made many ornaments.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Steven McCann; Mother, Ruth Jeffrey Jackson, and Father Leslie Jackson; brother, Leslie Gene Jackson. She is survived by her son, Kelly Jones (Tabitha); granddaughter Reagan Jones; great granddaughter Savannah Elaine Jordan; stepson Jason McCann (Andria) of Conway, S.C.; Sister-in-Law Carolyn Jackson; Niece Delores Jackson (David); and Nephew Randy Jackson (Vickie).
The family wishes to acknowledge Norma's many friends in both Kentucky and Jacksonville Florida, including Ted and Janice Harris, Teddy Harris, Debby Taylor, Gloria Davis, Christine Robinson, Dr. Margaret Dennis, and Bill Hall, all from Jacksonville. The family also wants to thank Michelle Abell (Bill) of Louisville and Matt Keith
and Cathy Adams of LaGrange, Kentucky.
The family wishes to send special love to Cousins Jim Onkst and Peggy Onkst Knapp (John). Norma also wanted a special thanks to go to Jody Meiman (Shannon), for always allowing Kelly time to help with her care.
The family also wishes to acknowledge the staff at Magnolia Springs East in Louisville. Norma received outstanding care while living there.
Norma wanted to thank all her friends from Garden Row in Louisville and the many kids from Prestonia Elementary School and Durrett High School that passed through her home while Kelly was growing up. She particularly mentioned Brett Burnett, Cindy Frasher McKeown, David Wilkerson, Joey Abell, Carla Abell Carrico, Joe Murphy (deceased) and Dr. Pat Murphy.
A memorial service for Norma will be held on August 24th, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home in London, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the Pittsburg, Kentucky Cemetery. The family of Norma will receive friends beginning at 12 noon Saturday, August 24th until the service hour of 1 pm at Bowling Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Rev. Robert Helton. Expressions of sympathy may be made to your favorite charity.
