Loucille McCollum Binder passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2025. She was born on February 6, 1937, in Jackson County, Kentucky, to Pearl Hacker (P.H.) and Dora Gabbard McCollum who preceded her in death.
She was a proud Hazel Green Bullfrog, graduating in 1957. While attending Hazel Green High School she met the love of her life Charles Victor Binder. They were blessed with 24 years together before Charles passed away on June 14, 1982.
Loucille and Charles were blessed with a daughter, Kimberly Jo, who is married to Rick Lane Brown of London, Kentucky. Her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother (Gran) to Charles Nicholas Jordan and Amanda Brown and great grandmother to Cora Layne Brown of Hebron, Kentucky.
She is survived by Kim, Rick, Jordan, Amanda, Cora and four sisters: Louise Parker of East Bernstadt, Rosella Williams (James), Josephine (Cookie) McCollum, Pearl Jean Hughes (Larry), sisters-in-law: Gladys McCollum, Alma Binder Wilson, Loucille Binder Cornett (Roy Jr.) and Patricia Binder all of London.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, brother Bert Jo McCollum, sister Elise Moyer, brother-in-law Ross Parker, father-in-law Francis Binder, mother-in-law Pearl Binder, brother-in-law Gerald Binder, sister-in-law, Beverly Binder, brothers-in-law, Albert Binder and Frank (Hank) Wilson Jr.
Loucille was saved and baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church. She served the Lord of her life at Swiss Colony Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church through her work in vacation bible school, Sunday school, and mission activities.
Her love for her Lord, family and friends was fierce. She enjoyed nothing more than picnics under the trees beside P.H. McCollum's Store, a holiday feast with her family, or the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends in her home.
Together Loucille and Charles owned and operated Binder Service Station, Kim's Gas and Diesel, and BHB Tires Inc. Loucille was also a faithful companion as Charles managed his cattle, hay, tobacco and other interests in Laurel County. In 1966, United Parcel Service (UPS) opened their London Hub in north London at Binder Service Station and remained there until moving to a larger location behind the current London City Hall.
After her husband's death, Loucille accepted a position at Bob's Ready to Wear in 1984. She remained a dedicated employee for the next 31 years.
In her free time, Loucille found joy in flower gardening, knitting, and collecting photographs. Her home was always surrounded and filled with beautiful flowers and potted plants.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Bowling Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
