James Emmett Gill, age 78, of London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mary Proffitt Gill; two daughters, April Renea Gill, Julie Kay Grubb & husband Jamie; his grandson, Samuel Grubb; his granddaughter, Isabella Grubb; his sisters-in-law, Flo Gill, Hazel Gill; his brother-in-law, John Johnson; his pastor, Wayne House; his best friend, Frankie Ward; plus a host of family and friends to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ed & Emma Philpot Gill, his infant daughter, Reba Lynn Gill; nine siblings, Edward Gill, Jack Gill, Charles Gill, Raymond Gill (Mary), Edna Bowling (Robert), Katie Johnson, Geraldine Adkins (Dave), Loreine Gill, Ruby Gill.

James was a devoted member of Lebanon United Baptist Church, where his faith was the foundation of his life. He found great joy in attending services, listening to gospel music, and sharing in fellowship with his church family.

James was a man who deeply loved and cherished his family. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness. Whether gathered for family meals, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, he found his greatest joy in the presence of his loved ones. His kind spirit, unwavering faith, and gentle heart touched everyone who knew him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faithfulness that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have him in their lives. While he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

A funeral service honoring James Emmett Gill was held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Wayne House officiating. Interment followed at Edwards Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
