London, Kentucky - Gilbert E. Hood, age 96, of London, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing four children, Linda Wright and husband Bud, Robin Smith and husband Alan, both of London, Ky, Steve Hood and wife Joan of Middletown, Oh, and Brenda Hundley and husband Terry, of Georgetown, Ky; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren, with two more expected this summer.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Rose Hood; his son Gilbert Hood Jr; his daughter in law Alice Hood, and his granddaughter Tammy Wright Hudson.

Gilbert was a barber by trade. After moving to Kentucky, he worked at Caron Spinning for many years and then with the Forrest Service through the Older Persons program. He was an avid fisherman and loved watching sports of any kind. He overcame many obstacles through his life and maintained a sense of humor and love of life that lives on through his family.

Funeral services for Gilbert E. Hood were held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Adam Hooker officiating. Burial followed at Bruner Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The pallbearers were his grandsons. The family entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
