Tommy  Smith


Tommy Smith, 70 of London, Ky., husband of Brenda Hughes Smith, passed away on Thursday, December 28 at Grant Co. Hospital.
Along with his loving wife of 49 years, he leaves behind three children, Richard Smith and wife Angela, Amy McCowan and husband Ryan, Tommy Dustin Smith and wife Shawna, all of London, Ky.; two siblings, Harold Smith and wife Jackie of Richmond, Ky., Flonietta Hampton of London, Ky.; five grandchildren, Ashley and Whitney McCowan, Jared, Jase and Jayden Smith, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Fannie Smith and five siblings, Geneva Milburn, Garfield Smith Jr., Shelby Smith, Lucy Richardson and Palmer Smith.
He was a retired County Executive Director for U.S.D.A., Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Blackwater United Baptist Church, Past President of the London/Laurel Rotary Club, former teacher and coach at Lily High School, 10-year member of the Laurel County School Board and a farmer. He was loved and adored by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Tommy Smith were conducted on Tuesday, January 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Marty Nolan and Terry Gabbard officiating. Burial followed in the Hughes Family Cemetery. The family received friends after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 1, also at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers: Blackwater United Baptist Church Deacons - Bill Milburn, Jim Sanders, Darrell Smith, Tony Richardson, Fred Luna, Tommy Hampton and Rick Richardson.
