Shirley Ruth Watson Shirley Ruby (Whitworth) Watson, 81, of London, Ky., departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at her son’s residence in Nashport, Ohio. She was born May 10, 1934 in Laurel County, Ky., to the late Omer and Ruby (Parker) Whitworth. Shirley was a retired nurse of 25 years from the Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. She retired from her second career as a sales associate for the Walmart Corporation in London, Ky. She loved bicycling, watching the rain, snow, bird and animal watching, the beach, visiting lakes, watching tv, family time, especially English Bulldogs and short adventures. She is survived by one of two brothers, Paul Whitworth of London, Ky.; three sons, Michael (and Jenny) Watson of Corbin, Ky., Mark (and Edwina) Watson of Nashport, Ohio, and Matthew (and Regina) Watson of Corbin, Ky.; and two daughters, Michaelene (and Don) Dixon of Livingston, Tenn., and Marlene (and Tom) Carver of Helena, Ala. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Anita Lynn Watson-Short, Angel Morrison, Danielle Dixon, Dillon Dixon, Lisa Michelle Binns, Chris Watson, Summer Ransom, Amber Kaper, Nikki Carver, Annaya Holling, Logan C. Watson, Hunter Watson, Alexis Jean Watson, Johnathan Watson and T.J. Watson; 14 great-grandchildren; Nikki Fitrakis, Steven Fitrakis, Noah Singleton, Gabrielle Morrison, Rhinnon Morrison, Landon Batts, Lilly Batts, Lucas Batts, Donna Binns, Cali Binns, Caleb Ransom, Jaylyn Ransom, Isabel Kaper, and Savanna Kaper. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Watson; her brother Bert Whitworth; her sister-in-law Sue Whitworth; and a great-grandchild Karter Watson Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, from 3 to 4 p.m. for family and from 4 to 6 p.m. for the public. A Celebration of Life ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. officiated by Brother Rodney Watson, Brother Delmar Gross, and Brother Jake Brock at the Bowling Funeral Home, London. Cremation ceremony will be held at a future date in Annapolis, Md.
