Shirley Chesnut's Story
Shirley Chesnut Wyatt, 78, of London, Ky., passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin, Ky.
She was born on August 3, 1938 in Knox County, Ky., the daughter of the late Arthur Chesnut and Belle Cottongim Chesnut.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were brothers, Ora, Odus and Oval Chesnut; sisters, Mary Pope, Irene Cobb and Lorene Parker.
On December 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Edmond C. "Buck" Wyatt. Together, they have two children, Eddie Dale Wyatt and wife Tammy, and Vickie Lynn Parman and husband Richard. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Eric Lee Parman and wife Natasha, Amanda Loren Imhoff and husband Robert, and Lori Danielle Stacy and husband Glen; five great-grandchildren, Cayden, Emma, Kaylie, Gage and Zane; one sister, Ruth Taylor; two brothers, Charles Chesnut and wife Barbara and the Rev. Dennis Chesnut and wife Joyce.
Shirley was a devoted member of Laurel River United Baptist Church of London. She had a passion for cooking for her family and others. She also enjoyed singing with her siblings and church members. She retired from Campground Elementary School after 17 years of service as a cook. Shirley was a resident of the Heritage Nursing Home for the past 6 ½ years. Buck and her family will forever be grateful for the support and love they received during this time.
Funeral service for Shirley Chesnut Wyatt will was conducted at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 28, in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Chesnut and the Rev. Terry Amburgey officiating.
Burial followed in the Laurel River Cemetery with grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, also at the funeral home.
