Ruby's Story

Ruby Eleanor Greene Orr, 89 of London, Ky., widow of Laird T. Orr, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at her home on Monday, January 22.   
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Amby Greene and Cora Estelle Brickell Greene; one infant son, David Orr; four siblings, James Greene, Tom Greene, Jane Brocious, Vicky Woods; son-in-law, Gordon Weston; sisters-in-law, Hazel Greene, Martha Orr and brothers-in-law, Lefty Brocious, Albert Ankele and Eugene Orr.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, 10 children, Debby O'Leary and husband Glenn, Kay Blevins and husband Don, Taylor Orr and wife Carolyn, Pam Weston, Barbara Ward and husband Chuck, Bonnie Orr and husband Ronnie Deaton, Linda Keller and husband James, Nancy Orr, Patty Navarro and husband Jesse, Dan Orr and wife Anna; four siblings, Bud Greene and wife Donna, John Greene and wife Dora, Ginny Greene Ankele, Barbara-Gerri Greene; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helen Greene, Betty L. Aul Wells; brothers-in-law, Roy Woods, Robert (Nancy) Orr, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
She was first and foremost, a wife to her husband and a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who set an example for all who knew her. She was also a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church of London, Harmony Grove Lutheran Church of Indiana County, Penn., and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, Fla. She loved her church and her church family and her life outside of the family mostly revolved her church.  She also enjoyed water color painting and crafts, gardening, hosting family and friends, and traveling with her husband and family. She enjoyed her strolls on the beach to look for shells when she was in Florida. She particularly enjoyed her and dad's adventurous trips with their grandchildren and later in life her trips with her children and her sister, Jane.  She was loved and adored by all who knew her and will forever be remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services for Ruby Eleanor Greene Orr were conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at First Presbyterian Church of London with Reverend Brian House officiating. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24 at House-Rawlings Funeral Home. An additional visitation and funeral service will be conducted at Harmony Grove Lutheran Church in Indiana County, Penn., on Saturday, January 27 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, also in Indiana County, Penn. House-Rawlings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
