Roscoe's Story

Roscoe “Buddy” Proffitt Roscoe “Buddy” Proffitt was born on Dec. 17, 1946 in Jackson County, the son of the late Roscoe Proffitt and Alice Moore Proffitt who survives.  He is also survived by his wife Minnie Ann Mullins whom he wed on Feb. 15, 1969, one daughter, Kimberly Michelle Smith and husband Patrick of Charleston, West Virginia, the parents of his grandchildren, Maddie Grace and Eli, one sister, Betty Ann Van Aston and husband Ron of Appleton, Wisconsin, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He spent the majority of his life as a Laurel County resident graduating from Hazel Green High School in 1964.  After graduation he entered the United States Army where he was a sharpshooter as well as the recipient of the Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  He was a member of  West London Baptist Church for almost 60 years. Roscoe “Buddy” Proffitt departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, being 68 years, 11 months and 22 days of age. Funeral services was held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. at West London Baptist Church.  Visitation was from 11 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at the church.  Memorial donations may be sent to West London Baptist Church, 360 Parker Road, London, KY. 40741 For as long as we live, they too will live.  For they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
