Robert H."Bud" Barton was born September 21, 1924 in Norton, Va., to James Neil and Mary Stapleton Barton. He was reunited with his wife of 68 years on September 22, 2016.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Bud was a World War II veteran, a retired employee of the post office and owner of Barton's Jewel Box in London.
He was an avid sports fan, especially loving tennis and golf in which in played until recently.
He is survived by two sons, Robert H. Barton Jr. and wife Virginia and Jeff Barton and wife Kathy; and a daughter, Marietta Barton-Baxter and husband Jeff; six grandsons, Neil Barton and wife Kerri, Bryan Barton and wife Becky, Jeffrey Barton, Michael Barton, Tyler Shelton and Will Shelton and wife Kim; and a granddaughter, Kristen Pulliam and husband Devin and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jewel Fields Barton; three brothers Clyde Barton, Roy Barton and James Barton and five sisters, Bertie Shoemaker, Jessie Potter, Virginia Rhodes, Geraldine Kibler and Jack Gannaway.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the First United Methodist Church of London with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church General Fund or a charity of your choice.
House-Rawlings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
