Paul Shortridge, 84 of London, husband of Martha Shortridge, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 21, at his residence.
Along with his loving wife, he leaves behind two children, Michael Wayne Shortridge and wife Irma of London, Barbara Flannery, also of London; four step-children, Cathy Dunigan of Jeff, Ky., Roland Dobson of East Bernstadt, Lenwood Dobson of Washington, D.C., Ferlin Dobson of Nancy, Ky.; six siblings, June Arms, Lola Skeens, Marlene Rife, Freddie, Johnny and Hassel Shortridge; three grandchildren, Stephanie Mehler, Matthew Paul Shortridge, Geoffrey Bowling; seven great-grandchildren, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Annie Shortridge; eight siblings and one grandson, Michael Dwayne Shortridge.
He was a self-employed home builder with Shortridge & Son, member of Colony Holiness Church, veteran of the U.S. Army and was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Paul Shortridge were conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. George Poynter, Rev. Hassel Shortridge and Garnett Tuttle officiating and full military honors being presented by the Local D.AV. Entombment will follow in the Clynch Valley Cemetery of Richlands, Va. The family received friends beginning at noon until the funeral hour of 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
