Pastor James's Story
Pastor James W. Smith,83 of Hazard, Ky., (formerly of London, Ky.), husband of Shirley Ruth Patton Smith, passed away on Sunday, December 17 at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ky.
Along with his loving wife of 62 years, he leaves behind two daughters, LaDonna Smith Lainhart and husband Hershell of London, Ky., Anjanette Prewitt Smith, also of London, Ky.; three siblings, Albert Leo Smith of Shepherdsville, Ky., Norma Jean Miller and husband Jimmie of London, Ky., Carolyn Wilder and husband Ralph, also of London, Ky.; four grandchildren, Mikaela Lainhart Lovitt, Austin, Alyssa and Alexis Prewitt, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey Albert Smith and Della Mae Turner Smith; one son, James Wandon Smith and three brothers, Harold Dean, Clifford Darrell and Gary Wayne Smith.
He was the Pastor of Fourseam Gospel Church for 42 years, founder of The Ark Radio & T.V. Ministries, former owner/operator of His & Her Shoppes, former Gideon and the first Kentucky President of The Full Gospel Business Men's Association. He will forever be remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Funeral services for Pastor James W. Smith will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20 at Souls Harbor Church in London, Ky., with Bro. Gene Greene, Bro. Ronnie Ball, Faron Sparkman (WSGS Radio) and Mike Smith (Pres. of Living Faith T.V.) officiating. Entombment will follow in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m., also on Wednesday at Souls Harbor Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Fourseam Gospel Church where he pastored for 42 years - 406 Fourseam Buffalo Rd., Hazard, Ky. 41701.
