Oliver Nelson's Story

Oliver Nelson Westerfield, 85, loving husband of Virginia "V.D." Martin Westerfield for 59 years and 179 days of London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Saint Joseph London.
He is also survived by two caring children, Cheryl Cornett and Rick Westerfield, both of London; he was thebrother of Ada White and Jim Westerfield both of Manchester, and John Westerfield of Franklin, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeff Cornett, Ashley Parker, Josh Westerfield, and Regan Westerfield, and by his great-grandchildren, Alexis Smith, Addison Parker, and Hudson Westerfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Westerfield and Laura (Cornett) Westerfield; and by three brothers, Edd Westerfield, R.G. Westerfield, and Jesse Westerfield Jr.
He was a machine oiler for Caron Spinning Company for 29 years, worked as a courier for ACS for two years, and also for Whirlpool in Hamilton, Ohio.
He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran.
The family of Oliver Nelson Westerfield received friends on Friday, July 28, at London Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral hour with Brother Larry Paul Roark, Ron Harris, and Doug Burkhart officiating.
Burial followed at Cornett Cemetery, Fogertown, Ky., with DAV Chapter 158 Keavy, in charge of military honors.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Cornett, Justin Proffitt, Doug White, Doug Burkhart, Donnie Burkhart, Clay Philpot Jr., and Marvin Smith.
