Oakley Dees Oakley “Billy Shep” Dees, 78, London, Ky., passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at his residence. Born June 22, 1937 in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of the late Sarah Hammons. He was a truck drive and attended the New Salem United Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Helen Hensley Dees, London; three children, Rick Shepherd and wife Angela, Rocky Shepherd, and Charlene Hinkle, all of London; two step-children, Harold Hensley and wife Paula, and Sandra Garland, both of London. He was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his birth mother;  his parents, Everett and Fannie Shepherd; a sister, Willa Nantz; a brother, Henry Shepherd; a son-in-law, Larry Garland; and by a grandson, Ernest Lee Garland. Funeral service for Oakley “Billy Shep” Dees was  conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in London Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne House officiating. Burial followed at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park, London. Pallbearers were John Hammons, Brian Hammons, Dustin Shepherd, Rick Shepherd, Spencer Jenkins, Brandon Jenkins, Donnie Philpot, Lonnie Philpot, Anthony Nantz and Anthony Shepherd. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, also at the funeral home.
