Marvin Pope, 92, of Georgetown, Ky., formerly of London, Ky., and the husband of the late Lou Farris Pope, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at his residence.
He leaves behind two children, Janet Pope Combs and husband Tom, and Jack E. Pope, all of Georgetown, Ky.; six grandchildren, Derek, Natalie and Kathryn Combs, Alexandra, John and William Pope, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Along with his wife, Lou Farris Pope, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Moses and Sally Huff Pope; and three siblings, Marie Pope Chestnut, Woodrow Wilson Pope and Albert Roger Pope.
He was a retired dairy worker with the Sealtest Company, veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines, and a member of Kenwood Heights Christian Church in Louisville, Ky. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral service for Marvin Pope will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Barry Farris officiating.
Burial will follow in the Farris Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon until the funeral hour, also on Saturday at the funeral home.
