Laura Collett Hacker Laura Collett Hacker, 96, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015. She was born on March 15, 1919 in Clay County, Ky., the daughter of the late Harrison C. and Lillie Napier Collett. She was united in marriage to James H. Hacker who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Rick Hacker of London; two sisters, Nancy Langdon of Cincinnati, Ohio and Cassie Hampton of Somerset, Ky.; five grandchildren, Hope Smith Bales, Jaymie Collette Begley, Samuel “Chip” Begley, Brandon and Adam Bradley Hacker; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy Blythe, Colten Blake, Branston Tate, Brodon Seth and Grayson Blayne Hacker and Kaleb Stephen Bales, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lana Hacker Begley and Lovetta Hacker Smith; and five siblings, Cornelius Ledford, Cornell, Clarence, Hamp and Hayes Collett. She was a homemaker and a member of the East London Baptist Church. Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Joel Holcomb and Eddie Elmore officiating. Burial followed in the Laurel River Cemetery, Laurel County. Pallbearers were Chip Begley, Brandon and Adam Hacker, Artie Ledford, David Langdon and Phillip Hampton. Visitation was after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, also at the funeral home.
