Jessie M. Lewis Jessie M. Lewis, 107, of London, Ky., passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Ky. Born June 22, 1908 in Leslie County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Grant and Elizabeth Muncy Murrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Lewis was honored as one of the four recipients of London’s Living Treasures in 2015 - a project which documents the lives of four elders who represent the best values of Laurel County. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Lewis; her son, Winfrey Lewis; and the following siblings, Harry Murrell, Estill Murrell, Joe Murrell, Alpha Creech, Polly Huff, Faye Swain, Alpha Creech, Clyda Jones, Elmer Murrell, and Hermia Nicholson. She was the grandmother of Jeanette Gregory of Manchester, Ky., Linda Evans of Philadelphia, Miss., Denise Rice and Barry Lewis, both of London, and Valerie Meyer, of Louisville, Ky. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral service for Jessie M. Lewis will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in London Funeral Home Chapel with Anthony Lovett officiating. Burial will follow at Murrell Cemetery, Laurel County. Serving as pallbearers will be Evan Rice, Aaron Rice, Gene Nicholson, Dennis Rudder, Jimmy Nicholson, Joe Farmer and Barry Lewis. The family received friends at London Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
