James Ward's Story
December 4, 1931 — April 8, 2017
James Ward Whitaker, 85, of Stanford, Ky., and formerly of Laurel County, Ky., passed away Saturday April 8, 2017, at Ephraim McDowell Reginal Medical Center in Danville, Ky.
He was a retired diesel mechanic for Rudd Heavy Equipment, a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Hustonville Christian Church in Hustonville, Ky.
He was the father of John Whitaker and wife Joretta of London; the brother of Billie Jean Fore of Lexington, Ky., and Mary Virginia May of Nelsonville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Darnell) Whitaker; by his parents, Alma (Eades) Whitaker and William Whitaker; and by his brother, Carl Whitaker.
Funeral service for James Ward Whitaker will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the London Funeral Home Chapel with Donald Tackett and William R. Julian officiating.
Burial will follow at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park with DAV Chapter 158, Keavy, in charge of military honors.
Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Raymond Brown, Tom Julian, Jim Truett, J.R. Jones, and Wayne Watkins.
The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, also at the funeral home.
