James R. Canady James R. Canady, 84, Kokomo, Ind., passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at his home. He was born on February 14, 1932, in Gatliff, Ky., the son of the late Robert Lee and Bessie (Sharp) Canady. On August 21, 1948, he married Geraldine King and she survives. Canady worked for Continental Steel from 1953 to 1980. He lived in Kokomo from 1948 to 1982, he then moved to Florida where he lived for 23 years. In 2005 he relocated to London, Ky., and then to Kokomo in 2015. He was a member of Hart Baptist Church in London, and had attended First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo. He was an ordained minister of the American Baptist Organization. He also served as visitation minister at 30th Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was also appointed as a deacon. He organized a clothing ministry in Southeastern Kentucky. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Canady, Kokomo, Ind.; children, James R. Canady Jr., Indianapolis, Ind., Jerry L. (Rhonda) Canady, Anderson, Ind., Gary L. Canady, Kokomo, Ind., Linda G. (Richard) Taylor, Russiaville, Ind., Jeffery A. (Jennifer) Canady, Logansport, Ind., and Patrick M. (Judy) Canady, Flora, Ind.; brother, Charles M. (Gloria) Canady, Kokomo, Ind.,  along with 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers and three sisters. In Kokomo, a memorial gathering was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 South Washington Street. Friends were invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. In Kentucky, a funeral service was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, at Hart Baptist Church. Friends visited with the family two hours prior on Sunday. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery, Williamsburg, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made in Canady’s memory to Feed the Need Food Ministry of Hart Baptist Church, London, Ky.
