Hershall Barnard Hershall Barnard, 73, of Seymour, Ind., passed away at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at his home in Seymour, Ind. He had been ill since October 2015. He was a licensed pilot and had attended barber school and received his barber license. He had also worked at the Golden Foundry for several years. He retired after 25 years as working as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service. He was a former member of the American Legion, enjoyed camping and had a passion for reading. He loved history and traveling to historical sites. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America. He dearly loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born May 5, 1941 in Jackson County, Ind., he was a son of Sam and Vivian (Osborne) Barnard. On June 1, 1963 he married Joyce Delph and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Barbara (Scott) Johnson, Sgt. Cindy Barnard (Ret.), and Tracey (Rick) Henzie; a brother, Marcus (Phyllis) Barnard; two sisters, Sarah Wooldridge and Ruth Hillenburg Nelson Briton; three grandchildren, Rachel Johnson, Robert Johnson and Melissa Shosten; and four-great grandchildren, Caitlyn Shosten, Audri Shosten, Ryker Shosten and Ty Shosten. In addition to his parents, two brothers preceded him in death, Oakley and Emmitt Barnard and two sisters Nyla Mize and Anabelle Taylor. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown, Ind. On Thursday, Feb. 11, his funeral and a brief viewing took place at the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene. The viewing begins at 12 noon and the funeral officiated by Floyd Fisher will start at 1 p.m. Burial with military rites followed at the Kurtz Cemetery, Kurtz, Ind. Memorial donations may be written to the American Lung Association.
