July 29, 1928 — March 24, 2017

Grace Caldwell Griffey, 88, of High Moore Road in London, Ky., left her earthly world early Friday morning, March 24, 2017.
She was the eldest child of the late James Garrett Caldwell and Stella Bledsoe Caldwell, born in Leslie County, Ky., on July 29, 1928. The family moved to London when she was a teenager and she made London her home for the remainder of her life.
Her personality was one of humbleness and kindness, never speaking ill of anyone and always showing her love toward family and friends. She was a long-time employee of London Laundry, walking from her home on North Mill Street to work year round in the heat and cold so she could provide for her two sons, Ricky and Gary Hedrick. She was a Christian and member of Parkway Church of God.
Grace Griffey died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son, Gary Hedrick, and his wife Paula. She had been homebound for the past several years and was cared for by her family members.
Preceding her in death were a son, Ricky Daniel Hedrick; her first husband and father of her two children, Virgil Hedrick; her husband, Grant Griffey; and her brothers, Ozal, Mack, Johnny and James Edward Caldwell.
Besides her son Gary, she is survived by her sister, Dessie Hedrick of London; six grandchildren, Ricky Daniel Hedrick II and wife Christy of Stanford, Ky., Garrett Hedrick of London, Amanda Mendinsky and husband Clint, of St.Augustine, Fla., Christy Lawrence of Stanford, Ky., and Donald and Doug Dixon of London; her daughter-in-law Lois Hedrick of London; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn her passing but celebrate her life.
A visitation for Grace Griffey was held at Bowling Funeral Home on Friday, March 24, with her funeral on Saturday, March 25 at 4 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Douglas officiating.
Burial followed in the Dunn Cemetery.
