George Leonard's Story
George Leonard Burton, 91, of London, Ky., husband of Betty Lou Burton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
Along with his loving wife, he leaves behind five children, Jackie Burton Ratcliff and husband Stan of Florence, Ky., Angela Bateman of San Diego, Calif., Rebecca Smith and husband Farlon of Amelia, Ohio, Ruthann Muse and husband Ray, and Christopher Wilson and wife Stacy, all of London; a sister, Jewell Shrout; six grandchildren, D.D. Taylor, Scott Albrecht, Joey Albrecht, Zach Burton, Tabdavid Robinson, and Shelby Robinson; and three great-grandson, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Alta Mae Burton; and six siblings, Irene Guinn, Fred, Valmer, Harold, Earl and Gerald Burton.
He was a heavy equipment operator, veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Christian faith. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with full military honors being presented by the Jackson County D.A.V.
Burial will follow in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, also at the funeral home.
