Ernest Allen, 94, London, Ky., departed this life at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016.
He was born on July 28, 1922, in Laurel County, Ky., the son of the late Zack and Sally House Allen.
He was united in marriage to Artie Jackson Allen, who survives of London.
He is also survived by seven children, Brenda Evans, Dale, Roger, Ronnie, Terry and Craig Allen, all of London and Jakie Allen of East Bernstadt; one sister, Eliza Pearl Farris of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Martha Jones, Susie Vandy, Mollie Cox and Celia Sasser and four brothers, Theo, Curt, Truman and Burt Allen.
He was a carpenter and farmer and a member of Weaver Baptist Church.
Funeral service for Ernest Allen was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Denny McCowan and Ronnie Owens officiating.
Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery, Laurel County.
The family received friends after 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, also at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the London Homeless Shelter.
