Emily Mae's Story

Emily Mae Cornett, 85, of Zolfo Springs, Fla., formerly of London, Ky., the widow of Verrel Cornett, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Rest Haven Assisted Living Facility in Zolfo Springs, Fla.
She was the mother of Charlotte Shields and husband James of Zolfo Springs, Fla. She also leaves behind four siblings, Oshie Smith Coffee, Naomi Proffitt and husband Ray, Grace Hoskins and husband Hobert, and Neil Scalf and wife Rochelle; three grandchildren, Shannon Ayers and husband Joe of South Carolina, Jamie Tant and husband Scott of Georgia, and John-William Shields and wife Chyntel of Michigan; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, Peter B. Tant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verrel Cornett; parents, Willie Frank and Roxie Adkins Scalf and one sister, Imogene Pettyjohn.
She was a farmer, homemaker and member of Slate Ridge Bible Church. She will forever be remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Funeral service for Emily Mae Cornett was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Verrell Root officiating.
Burial followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family received friends from 12 noon until the funeral hour, also on Tuesday at the funeral home.
