Edna Pearl Anders Alsip was born on Aug. 20, 1919 in Laurel County, the daughter of the late James and Vestina Harville Anders. She was united in marriage to Eugene Alsip who also preceded her in death. She is survived by four children, James Alsip of Cincinnati, Florence Moore and Billy Alsip and wife, Daverne, and Myrtlene Phelps and husband, Charley, of Stearns, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by four children, Roy Enos Alsip, Elsie Mae Whitaker, Donna Farmer and Mary Vaughn Hensley, ten sisters, Bertha Taylor, Ethel Rose, Maggie Barnett, Sally Reedy, Telvis Morgan Hamilton, Alice Riley, Dora Alsip, Lillie Merritt, Della Farmer and Stella Mills, one brother, Charlie Anders, one granddaughter, Debora Huff, and one great-grandson, Shane Huff.
She was a homemaker and a member of Poynters Chapel Church of Christ since 1929.
Edna Pearl Alsip departed this life at Baptist Health Corbin on Saturday, December 24, 2016, being 97 years, 4 months and 4 days of age.
Funeral services for Edna Pearl Anders Alsip will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Poynters Chapel Christian Church with Ronnie Hale and Mike Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Poynters Chapel Cemetery in London.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bowling Funeral Home.
