Bessie Rose's Story
Bessie Rose Mays, 86, of London, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.
The daughter of the late James and Mary Jane Sargent House. She was born April 30, 1930 in Laurel County, Ky.
She was a homemaker and had also worked at the Krystal Kitchen, Hobb Knob, Silver Diner, and Comer Cafe. She was a member of the Laurel River United Baptist Church in London, and was also a faithful watcher of WLJC "Margaret" television program in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest C. Wyatt and after his passing she later married Ed Mays and was preceded in death by him. Also three sisters, Emma Parsley, Martha Bowling and Dora Ellen House; her five brothers, Virgil, Robert, Bill, Dave and Roy House; two sons, Bill Wyatt and Willis Wyat; one daughter, Kathleen Cottongim and one son-in-law Robert Landry.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Michael House and wife Jo of London, Ernie L. Wyatt and wife Loretta of Somerset, Ky., Buck Wyatt and wife Shirley of London, Ruby Cottongim and husband Otis of London, Pam Kennett and husband John of London, and Darlene Huchel of London; two daughter-in-Iaws, Lowana Wyatt and Nancy Wyatt, both of London. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Geraldine House of Hamilton, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and other loved ones to mourn her passing.
She will always be remembered for her kind heart and willingness to help others. For treating them as she wanted to be treated, caring for her family and friends, and the godly example she lived by.
Funeral service for Bessie Rose Mays will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 9, in London Funeral Home Chapel with Ernie Wyatt and Roy Hamblin officiating.
Burial will follow at Laurel River Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Kennett, Kyle Wyatt, Michael House, Brian House, Travis Lovins, Darren Wyatt, and Dana Douglas.
The family received friends at London Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
