Bernice Patton Evans was born on Oct. 24, 1920, in Laurel County, the daughter of the late William and Cynthia Thomas Patton. She was united in marriage to Herman Evans, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, William Ray Evans and wife, Brenda, Vontella Cupp and husband, Earl Dean, and Claudette George and husband, LeRoy, all of East Bernstadt, eight grandchildren, Rory George, Tammy Storm, Billy Ray Evans, Karla Evans, Jeffery Evans, Kerry Evans, Troy Cupp and Brian Cupp, nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Wilson Parker Patton, one sister, Oma Green and one grandson Craig George.
She was a former welfare office employee and a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church where she served as church secretary until her death.
Bernice Patton Evans departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, being 96 years, 2 months and 1 day of age.
Funeral services for Bernice Patton Evans will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with John Moore and Barry Farris officiating. Burial will follow in the Landrum Cemetery at East Bernstadt.
The family of Bernice Patton Evans received friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
