Arnold 'Papaw''s Story

Arnold "Papaw" Lewis, 93, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
He was born on April 22, 1924 in Leslie County, Ky., the son of the late John and Myrtle Bailey Lewis.
He was united in marriage to Jean Hacker who preceded him in death.
He is survived by four children, Bill Lewis and wife Lena of Cincinnati, Ohio, Benny Lewis and wife Pat of London, Jim Lewis and wife Diana of East Bernstadt and Suann Broughton and husband Chuck of Owensboro, Ky.; two sisters, Sue Carol Lewis of East Bernstadt and Wiletta Farris of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Lynsey, Brody, Dewayne, Brian, Jeff, and Jeanna Lewis, Charley Broughton, Becky Quiqley and Shelli Young; 21 great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lewis and daughter-in-law, Diana.
He was a retired farmer and was an Elder at Mt. Carmel Christian Church.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Bowling Funeral Home with Denny McCowan and Carl Allen officiating.
Burial followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in East Bernstadt.
Visitation was after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Lynsey Lewis, Brody Lewis, Dewayne Lewis, Brian Lewis, Jeff Lewis, and Charley Broughton.
Honorary pallbearer were Brett Binder, Cole Lewis, Will Lortz, Hunter Lewis, Chaz Young, Carter Young, Grant Broughton and Jason Young.
