Anita Lawson's Story

Anita Lawson Cooper, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home by her Creator on Thursday, June 1, 2017, where she was greeted by her loving husband, James Robert Cooper, father, William Greene Lawson, mother, Rosa Belle Stacy Lawson, daughter and son-in-law, Gwytha Dawn Cooper Blaylock and James Leonard Blaylock, grandsons, David Christian Cooper and Matthew Graydon Cooper and seven sisters and six brothers.
She leaves behind a son, Lynn Graydon Cooper and wife, Roselyn, of Wilmore; three grandchildren, Julie Cooper Holifield (Rob), Shawne Blaylock Russom (Jeff), and Nicci Blaylock Patrick (Brad); six great-grandchildren, Wesley and Siah Holifield, James Robert Cooper Patrick, Victoria and Rebecca Patrick and Madison Grace Russom; brother-in-law, Charles Grigsby, plus several nieces and nephews and other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.
She was born in Hazard, Ky., on September 19, 1924. She retired after serving 25 years as administrative assistant at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She was a member of Hart Baptist Church and The Gideons International, Past President of GFWC (Michigan), was active in Christian Women's Club (Michigan) and a member of the London TEA Leaves Book Club.
Funeral service for Anita Lawson Cooper will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Terrell Bradley officiating.
Burial will follow in the A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.
Pallbarers will be Jeff Russom, Siah Holifield, Chris Grigsby, Charles Grigsby, Bob Wyatt, and Harold Grimes.
The family will receive friends after 9 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral hour of 11 a.m. also at the funeral home.
