Amanda Buckles Amanda Buckles, 96, Laurel County, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016. She was born in Laurel County, Ky., on January 1, 1920, the daughter of the late Minnie Cathers Cochran and Will Cochran. She was united in marriage to Delbert Buckles who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Maude Cochran Sams, Sallie Cochran, Ellen Cochran Robbins, Maggie Cochran Brown, and Hazel Cochran Buckles; and a brother, James Cochran. She is survived by a daughter, Lois Buckles Shannon, and a son, Lowell Buckles and wife Jewell, all of London.  She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Lisa Nead and husband Bob of Naples, Fla., Terry Shannon, Sheila London, Tim Buckles and fiancé, Andrea Casteel, all of London and Scott Buckles and wife Lisa, of East Bernstadt; nine great-grandchildren, and a special grandson, Keith London. She was a housewife and lived her younger years helping her husband farm. She was a lifetime member of Twin Branch United Methodist Church where she had been a youth Sunday School teacher.  She loved her church and rarely missed a Sunday of worship including the Sunday she was hospitalized. Funeral service for Amanda Buckles was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Tackett officiating. Burial followed in the Buckles-Moberly Cemetery of East Bernstadt. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
