Alpha's Story

Alpha House Alpha House, 88, London, Ky., passed away Monday, March 8, 2016. She was born on August 31, 1927 in Laurel County, Ky., the daughter of the late Lee and Elizabeth Carter. She was united in marriage to Oscar House Sr. who preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Gayle Barnes, Linda Carol House and Mary Ruth Grimes, all of London; five sisters, Beatrice Deaton of Dayton, Ohio, Bethel O’Neal, Jewell Wickersham, Barbara Spark-man and Joan Smith, all of London; a brother Lowell Carter of London; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Wendell, Timothy and Oscar House Jr.; two brothers, Denzil and Colson Carter, and one grandchild,  Jimmy Floyd. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Bowling Funeral Home with Todd Martin and Charles Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery in East Bernstadt. Pallbearers were Trey Hedrick, Cary and Joey Barnes, Brian and Blake Hurley, and Dusty House. Visitation was at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, also at the funeral home.
