Alonzo's Story

Alonzo Hicks, 88 of London, Ky, husband of Geneva Webb Hicks, passed away on Thursday, October 26 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky.
Along with this loving wife of 63 years, he leaves behind two children, Nadine Rush and husband Bobby of London, Ky, Darrell Hicks, also of London, Ky; two sisters, Lorene Hopper, Joyce Ann Egelston and husband Charles; five grandchildren, Heather Bowling and husband Jerry, Holly Evans and husband Steven, Brice Hicks and wife Mackenzie Martin Hicks, Mackenzie Hicks and wife Blake, Braxston Hicks; five great-grandchildren, Jade, Justin, Bradyn, Landyn and Lillian Mae, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Linda Hicks; one son, Bruce Hicks and one sister, Loretta Hopper.
He was a retired Law Enforcement Officer with the London City Police Dept., veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War, member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church, the McKee Lodge #144 F.&A.M. and Fraternal Order of Police.  He was also a Shriner with Oleika Temple and member of the Scottish Rite.  Alonzo will forever be remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Funeral services for Alonzo Hicks will be conducted on Monday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Wayne House and David Thomas officiating.  Full military honors will be presented by the Local D.A.V.  Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, also at the funeral home with a masonic service will being held at 7:00 p.m. by the McKee Lodge #144 F.&A.M.
