Alford Don's Story

Alford Don Cheek, 71, of London, Ky., passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his residence.
He leaves behind seven siblings, Naomi Viars, Omia Lee Hickman, Delford Cheek and wife Bernice, all of Ohio, Denver Cheek and wife Brenda of Indiana, Albert Glenn Cheek and wife Darlene of Indiana, Patricia Lawson and husband Tommy of London, and Wanda Kay Hunt and husband Larry of Nevada; brother-in-law, Steve Castile and wife Patricia of Arizona; special friends, Grace Collins and Adrian Smith, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Faye Cheek; parents, Willie J. Cheek and Sallie Gregory Cheek and two brothers, Norman Paul Cheek and Roger Cheek.
He was a retired maintenance worker with the Laurel County Board of Education and of the Baptist faith. He was also proud to be a Vietnam veteran. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral service for Alford Don Cheek was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Kevin Cheek officiating.
Burial followed in the Cheek Cemetery with military service by the local DAV.
The family received friends beginning at 12 p.m. until the funeral hour, also on Sunday.
